Afnan Shahin

Afnan is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry and a B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Sharjah, where she graduated with high honors. Afnan’s research background focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules with anticancer and antibacterial potential. Before joining UNC, she served as a research assistant in the Drug Design and Discovery Lab at the University of Sharjah, contributing to medicinal chemistry projects targeting kinases, enzymes, and bacterial pathogens. She is passionate about driving progress in drug discovery by combining diverse scientific approaches.
