Sam Flipse

Sam completed his B.S. in Biochemistry from Arizona State University in 2017 before pursuing his doctorate degree at the University of Hawaii under the guidance of Dr. Marucs Tius. His graduate research focused on asymmetric organocatalysis utilizing  chiral, non-racemic Brønsted-derived Lewis acids and the synthesis of biologically relevant natural products and their derivatives. After graduating in 2025, Sam joined the Frankowski Lab at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a postdoctoral researcher, where he is currently synthesizing small-molecules targeting the D3 dopamine receptor and sigma receptors.
